Asís Márquez

Asís was born in Madrid and began his musical studies at the age of 5. He studied piano, counterpoint, and composition, and enrolled at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid, where he earned his advanced degree cum laude in harpsichord and basso continuo with Alberto Martínez Molina. In 2013, he earned his Master’s degree in harpsichord and basso continuo from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he studied with Richard Egarr.

After training as a singer in the choir of the Carlos III University of Madrid, directed by Nuria Fernández Herranz, he became its assistant director from 2009 to 2016.

Awarded first prize in the 2014 “Premio Joven Bach” solo competition at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, he has been a keyboardist with the L’Apothéose ensemble since 2016, a group with which he has received 12 international awards in major early music competitions in Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, and England.

He combines his concert career with organ studies and teaching harpsichord, chamber music, and basso continuo at the CPM Arturo Soria, a center whose baroque orchestra he has directed since 2022.

In April 2024, he will publish the illustrated CD-book Doce miniaturas para clave a cuatro manos, compositions aimed at perfecting harpsichord and chamber music during professional and advanced harpsichord education.

Together with his partner Vanessa Pérez Carvajal, he founded the Harpsichord Lab Collective project in 2024, primarily aimed at promoting the creation and performance of new and old repertoires for harpsichord or harpsichord ensemble.
